opportunities for health professionals

Sri Rama Medical Clinic

Sri Ram Ashram (SRA) is developing a program to coordinate a year round health professional rotation schedule for its orphanage and community medical and dental clinic. We envision a two-month term for each medical doctor and shorter 5-7 day clinic intensives for visiting dentists. This program provides SRA orphanage and the local villagers with health support through our well-equipped community health facility.

Location
SRA is 10 km from Haridwar in Uttaranchal (200 km north of Delhi). Directions to Sri Ram Ashram

Local Culture
Haridwar, the closest town, is called the “Gateway to the Himalayas”. It is a temple town and is often used as a starting point for mountain treks. The river Ganga flows clear and cool through Haridwar as it leaves the Himalayan foothills. Haridwar is considered sacred and one can take part in festivals and rituals that have been taking place for thousands of years.

The jungle reserve across the road from SRA is wonderful for morning walks and wild elephants, peacocks, and monkeys abound.

Shyampur Kangri village is a short walk away and browsing the farmer’s market that is held each week is a great way to get to know the local community.
