Congratulations to Jaya, Sangita and Sunita on their admission to college. Jaya will attend Mahadevi Kanya Pathshala in Dehradun where she will study for a BA. Sangita and Sunita have been accepted into St. Stephen’s Hospital School of Nursing in Delhi. We are so proud of you!

Vijay Pal, who recently passed class 12 with excellent marks, has been offered an wonderful job opportunity with NAL (Nissan ABC Limited), a company in Noida (near Delhi). We are very proud of Vijay for working hard towards his dream. He will continue his higher education while working. We wish him the best and will certainly miss him.

Ever since we started our Crossfit program Vijay Raj has wanted to pursue more training in Crossfit. With help from the amazing folks at Leadership as Rx’d Vijay is going to Singapore where he will train for a few days at Crossfit Singapore and attend a Level 1 Crossfit Certification. This will be a huge adventure for a young man who has never seen an airplane, the ocean and so many other things. Thank you to Leadership as Rx’d, Crossfit Singapore and Crossfit Headquarters for helping Vijay lift his dreams.

Sridhar Babu, City Magistrate of Haridwar, plants a tree at the ashram. Five trees were planted by the Mount Madonna School senior class as carbon credits for their trip to India.

The senior class of Mount Madonna School, California recently visited the ashram during their 12 day tour of India. Their four day visit was full of volleyball games, group discussions, classroom teaching, Crossfit classes and raucous playtime. The final night was an ashram special, a dance show and out door dinner ending with everyone whooping it up on the dance floor. Leaving was sad but we hope each know they have a home in India awaiting them.

Congratulations to Soma Sharan on her selection as a Gates Millennium Scholar 2011. As a Gates Millennium Scholar, GMS funds are available for Soma to attend any U.S. accredited college or university of her choice for her bachelor degree, masters and doctoral level is she so chooses. Next year Soma will attend UCLA where she will major in International Development.

Soma recently visited Sri Ram Ashram during a 12 day tour with her Mount Madonna School senior classmates. Her story, from abandonment at birth to Gates Millennium Scholar was widely reported on in the local and national newspapers.

For the last several years Dr. Leon Dogon, who has been on the faculty of Harvard Dental School for over 50 years, has brought some of his students to do dental care at the ashram. This year he returned with Dr. Wendy Cohen. Thank you Dr. Dogon and Dr. Cohen for sharing your valuable time and skills.
